Only on a sunny Sunday morning
In colonial town USA
You see the vintage rides
From the café window
A cool breeze through cloud spotted, turquoise sky
And a yellow ribbon flapping in my hair.
My man is gone, but I’ll see him soon
On a beach drinking Buddhas
At half price.
Life flies by my eyes
And he flies away again
But my yellow ribbon floats on
Through the crowded, burning streets
And tells the world
He’s away, but he’s mine
Forever, for all time.
Memories of cruising down a speedway
Music tranquil but blasting through the night
Top speed adrenaline rush
With my man by my side
And my yellow ribbon trailing out of the open window,
A light in the wind soaring around us.
I stand in the rain
And think of my man in the mud
And a tear falls
As I tie my yellow ribbon in my hair
To shout to the world from the mountaintop
My man’s away, but he’s mine forever
And I know he’s praying for his life.
